Food Fighter: How to Start A Food Rescue
July 1, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
This class if for individuals who want to learn how ‘Food Rescue ASEAN’ started. Be informed about how the concept of food rescue works. Students will also learn how they can start their own food rescue in their area and how they can foster and connect communities through food.
In 2015, Mac and his friends started a food rescue initiative in Dumaguete City and Kuala Lumpur receiving excess but perfectly edible food from different establishments and delivering it to communities in need through bicycle deliveries. Not only do they address the issue of food wastage and hunger, they promote the culture of cycling. Now that Mac moved to Manila, he’s finding ways on how to have the bike model operation happen here! For the past few months, they’ve been delivering on foot, through transport volunteers and ride-sharing services!
BARTER ITEMS:
– Food Containers
– Zero-waste kits (bamboo/metal straws, eco-bags/pouches, mason-jar, cutlery, etc.)
